I asked a group of individuals in a performance session recently, what comes to mind when they think about feedback.
Goals are easy, you say, I make them all the time! We are a nation of goal collectors, products of an individualistic culture of ambition and achievement. Perhaps more accurate would be to pose that we are, rather than goal collectors, goal hoarders. We enthusiastically (and naively) accumulate life ambitions but often fail to give them life.
This time of year can test the most psychologically resilient and conscientious planners among us. As Christmas and a new year approaches the demands of work, the expectations of loved ones, cultural traditions and societal norms culminate in a tightly coordinated act in which we attempt to juggle a few more balls as gracefully as humanly possible.
