What does The Effect actually do?
The Effect unlocks human potential in individuals, teams and organisations to reach higher levels of performance.
What this really means is that we give people the 'soft skills' they need to be effective - and thrive! - in their roles. People are often promoted on knowledge and skills, but it's their attitudes and habits that transform people into high performers. We deliver that transformation.
What, like that tree-huggy stuff?
Business has historically ignored the fact that staff are people first and employees second, but this has never been the case. Feelings are in the workplace, whether you want them there or not, and we now have research-validated evidence that directly links low self esteem to lack of productivity and poor performance, and high Emotional Intelligence with high performance across all sectors. From a purely business perspective, it just makes good bottom-line sense to enhance the creativity, motivation, and ultimate success of the individuals you employ.
We suggest you find a likely tree and make yourself comfortable.
What is Emotional Intelligence?
Emotional Intelligence is a person's ability, capacity and skill in identifying, assessing and managing the emotions of themselves and others. We often use the layperson's shorthand of saying it is 'thinking about feeling and feeling about thinking' - that is, using both feelings and logic together to create appropriate behavioural outcomes.
Why do you call it EI and not EQ?
EQ, like IQ, stands for the measure of intelligence, the Emotional Intelligence Quotient. But unlike IQ, which is relatively fixed, we know Emotional Intelligence to be completely changeable and developable. Every person has the capacity to increase their Emotional Intelligence, so we reflect this philosophy by using the abbreviation EI instead of EQ.
Why is it important to be Emotionally Intelligent?
Research has proven that all high performing leaders, sales people and sports people have higher degrees of EI. In predicting performance, personality contributes 9% and is relatively fixed, IQ decides 25% and is relatively fixed, and EI makes up the remaining 66% and is completely changeable, measurable and developable. This makes it a good place to focus your development efforts if you want to perform better.

What is the key factor to success in training?
Many things decide the ultimate traction of your training programme, but in our experience an alignment of training to the vision and strategy of your business is the make-or-break. Without this, training objectives become essentially directionless. If you don't have a vision and strategy for your business, we can help.
Can you just come in and motivate our team?
The short answer - for a short term result - is yes. People often feel very motivated after training with us! The longer and more honest answer is that true motivation comes from within - your people, and your organisation. Dealing with the feelings and behaviour that cause non-productivity is the only way to motivate your people for long-term gain.
Can we really eliminate workplace conflict?
Yes! Our Radical Collaboration programme truly is radical. Find out more.
Is it realistic to expect staff to leave their personal life at the workplace door?
Yes and no. There is definitely a level of professionalism that should be respected, but your staff are people first and driven by their personal thoughts and feelings about everything, including their roles and workplaces. What you can do is give your staff the knowledge and skills to not only do their jobs, but to be more self aware and self-managed, thus mostly eliminating the problem.
